SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT:

HOW JUICY – FROM FOX BUSINESS:    A conservative group representing small businesses that says MLB's decision to move its All-Star game out of Atlanta is proof Commissioner Rob Manfred has "no balls" is now ready to throw another brush-back pitch.   With more than 30 partners ranging from the Nevada Chamber of Commerce to the National Restaurant Association, the Job Creators Network says baseball's decision to boycott Atlanta over its objection to Georgia’s voting law is wrong and it is taking MLB to court. 
FOX Business has learned that the right-leaning trade group founded by Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus — plans to file a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court Tuesday morning alleging that MLB's decision has injured Atlanta’s small business community. Also to be named in the lawsuit, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter is the Major League Baseball Players Association – the union which represents some 1,200 players – and which the Job Creators Network contends played a role in the decision to move the game out of Atlanta to Denver.  Read the whole thing.  I love it.   Major League baseball suddenly went woke, and damaged its franchise.  Sports should stay out of politics.  I hope the challengers win their lawsuit, and then start working on the NFL, another franchise that has lost its mind...and its viewers.

NOTHING TO SEE, NOTHING TO SEE – FROM AP:   VIENNA (AP) —  The United Nations’ atomic watchdog has not been able to access data important to monitoring Iran’s nuclear program since late February, when the Islamic Republic started restricting international inspections of its facilities, the agency said Monday.  The International Atomic Energy Agency reported in a confidential document, distributed to member countries and seen by The Associated Press, that it has “not had access to the data from its online enrichment monitors and electronic seals, or had access to the measurement recordings registered by its installed measurement devices” since February 23.  While the IAEA and Iran earlier acknowledged the restrictions limited access to surveillance cameras at Iranian facilities, Monday’s report indicated that they went much further. The IAEA acknowledged it could only provide an estimate of Iran’s overall nuclear stockpile as it continues to enrich uranium at its highest level ever.  Iran started limiting inspections in a bid to put pressure on the government of US President Joe Biden to lift crippling sanctions reimposed after then-president Donald Trump pulled out of the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran unilaterally in 2018.  Under the deal, the IAEA placed around 2,000 tamper-proof seals on nuclear material and equipment. Those seals communicated electronically to inspectors.  This is pretty serious stuff.  Iran is clearly developing nuclear weapons, and the missiles to deliver them.  And yet we're negotiating with the Iranians to get back into Obama's nuclear deal, which was a farce.  And now we learn that we don't have reliable data with which to conduct our negotiations.  Dangerous and unsmart.

THE STORY EXPANDS – OVERNIGHT:  And with it, one of the greatest journalistic scandals of our time.  From Fox: 

British intelligence services are now reportedly reassessing their position on the theory that COVID-19 leaked from a lab in China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology.

A Sunday report from the Sunday Times of London quotes British spies who initially dismissed the lab leak theory, but now say it is "feasible."

"There might be pockets of evidence that take us one way, and evidence that takes us another way," the paper quoted a source as saying. "The Chinese will lie either way. I don’t think we will ever know."

The quote comes as both the United States and Britain are stepping up calls for the World Health Organization to take a deeper look into the possible origins of COVID-19, including a new visit to China, where the first human infections were detected.

WHO and Chinese experts issued a first report in March that laid out four hypotheses about how the pandemic might have emerged. The joint team said the most likely scenario was that the coronavirus jumped into people from bats via an intermediary animal, and the prospect that it erupted from a laboratory was deemed "extremely unlikely."

The Biden administration wants to step up calls for China to be more open about the outbreak, aiming to head off complaints from opposition Republican senators that the president has not been tough enough, as well as to use the opportunity to press China on alleged obstruction.

Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, have promoted the theory that the virus emerged from a laboratory accident rather than naturally through human contact with an infected animal in China.

During an interview with CBS’ ‘Face The Nation’ on Sunday, former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said accidental lab leaks "happen all the time."

COMMENT:  The unspoken issue is whether a "lab leak" was intentional.  I have no independent evidence on this, nor have I seen any, but to rule it out is reckless, and a violation of sound national-security planning.  Bio-warfare is a reality, it is developed, it is deadly.  Just look at the damage done to the United States and its allies in the last year.  If you were an enemy, wouldn't you dream of inflicting that wound?  Again, no immediate evidence.  But we must prepare for a bio-warfare future.

SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT:

WELL STATED, FROM FOX:  Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin once again knocked the mainstream media for previously dismissing the theory that COVID-19 potentially originated from a Wuhan lab leak in China, tweeting on Saturday that journalists should "own up" when they "fail" their readers and encouraged them to "just report the facts."   "Most MSM [mainstream media] reporters didn’t ‘ignore’ the lab leak theory, they actively trashed it for over a year while pretending to be objective out of a toxic mix of confirmation bias, source bias (their scientist sources lied to them), group think, TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome] and general incompetence," Rogin, who was one of the very few journalists who previously reported on China's role in the pandemic and raised questions about the origins of the virus, tweeted on Saturday.   He went on to say that, "Also, the lab leak theory didn’t change. It didn’t suddenly become credible. It didn’t jump from crazy to reasonable. The theory has always been the same. The people who got it wrong changed their minds. They are writing about themselves, with zero self awareness."  Ah, there's still some integrity left in journalism.  Catch it while you can.

SOCIAL NOTE – FROM FOX:  LONDON — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his fiancée Carrie Symonds married Saturday in a small private ceremony in London, U.K. newspapers reported.  Johnson’s office declined to comment on reports in the Mail on Sunday and the Sun that the couple wed at the Roman Catholic Westminster Cathedral in front of a small group of friends and family.  The Sun said senior staff in Johnson's 10 Downing St. office were unaware of the wedding plan.  Under current coronavirus restrictions in England, weddings can be attended by a maximum of 30 people.  Hearty congratulations to a true ally of the United States.  We need more like him.

THE TRUTH – OVERNIGHT:  The truth is starting to come out about Black Lives Matter.  One by one, knowledgeable people are coming forward to warn us that this organization isn't exactly on the level.  For too long BLM has operated with the knowledge that a corrupt, leftist press would protect it from scrutiny.  But truth has a way of finding cracks to get through.  From Breitbart: 

A former Black Lives Matter (BLM) activist who now serves as executive director of the Minnesota Parent Union revealed he “learned the ugly truth” about BLM, including that the radical group has little concern for rebuilding black families and even less for improving education for black children.

In a video published Wednesday by TakeCharge, a Minnesota-based, black-led movement that rejects Critical Race Theory (CRT) and woke culture, Rashad Turner described how he became a founder of BLM in St. Paul, but came to realize, after only a year on the inside of the organization, that caring for black lives, black children, and black families was the least of the radical group’s concerns.

Born in Minneapolis in 1985, Turner said in the video that, when he was two-years-old, his father was shot and killed. He explained further about his upbringing:

My mother wasn’t able to take care of me, so I was raised by my grandparents. They told me that if I was going to change my life for the better, education was the answer. So, I worked hard in school. I got into Hamline University, and earned a college degree, the first in my family. Then I went on to earn a master’s in education from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. I am living proof that no matter your start in life, quality education is a pathway to success.

Turner said he hoped for the same success he had achieved for other children in his community, and thought BLM would be the answer, but soon found out the “ugly truth”:

In 2015 I was a founder of Black Lives Matter in St. Paul. I believed the organization stood for exactly what the name implies, black lives do matter. However, after a year on the inside, I learned they have little concern for rebuilding black families, and they cared even less about improving the quality of education for students in Minneapolis. That was made clear when they publicly denounced charter schools, alongside the teachers’ union. I was an insider in Black Lives Matter, and I learned the ugly truth: the moratorium on charter schools does not support rebuilding the black family, but it does create barriers to a better education for black children.

As Breitbart News reported in June 2020, many individuals, corporations, and teachers’ unions have adopted the rhetoric of BLM, an organization now at the receiving end of massive donations from those who strive to be viewed as “woke,” but who have failed to examine BLM’s larger political agenda.

In the “What We Believe” section of its website that has since been deleted, BLM Global Network Foundation declared its goals to “fight for freedom, liberation, and justice,” can only be achieved through the disruption of the “Western-prescribed nuclear family structure.”

COMMENT:   Please read the whole thing.  There is a national movement building, fueled by outraged parents, against critical race theory.  It will expand to include a hard look at BLM.  Any hard look will expose the truth outlined above.  And then we have an election.
